The Think Games EMEA, Google event in Athens, was truly phenomenal.
As Google’s flagship gaming event, it gathered representatives from leading Gaming and iGaming companies across EMEA. It was an excellent opportunity to exchange industry insights and forge new connections (as was often the case, the CEE people were some of the last to leave the event late in the night :)).
The event’s agenda was packed with keynotes covering the latest market trends, Google’s strategic gaming initiatives, and inspiring customer success stories. I was particularly excited to contribute to the discussion, offering my view on how the rapidly changing gaming landscape, growing competition and the increasing influence of AI will reshape Growth and Measurement, and what this means for the companies and people who want to succeed in such environment.
Key Takeaways for the Future:
▪️ The gaming industry became huge business (bigger than TV advertising or Music industry) engaging billions of people ▪️ At the same time increasing competition, growing complexity of the business makes you sometimes feel that it is easier to find Yeti than Growth in the gaming industry… ▪️ Growing business requires innovation, thinking more about what you gain not what you can loose, bringing experiences gamers did not see yet ▪️ Understanding and engaging the next generation of gamers (Gen Z) is vital for future-proofing strategies. ▪️ Game developers should focus on “next growth engines” such as better monetisation, AI, IP, Gen Z, cross-platform experiences, user-generated content, advanced platforms & tools.
