Background

AppLovin just launched their new “self-serve” ads manager dashboard.

AppLovin just launched their new “self-serve” ads manager dashboard last week on June 3. HUGE upgrade over the last one, but still not perfect.

My notes on each section of the new UI:

🤓 Reporting
– Major upgrade over V0 w/ more metrics now available
– My favorite addition is CTR by ad unit (video CTR, endcard CTR, DPA CTR)
– slice the data better now w/ filters. Can now analyze things like this: ROAS on ads w/ vs w/o DPAs
– Still missing custom metrics.
Things like AOV, conversion rate etc still missing. Add custom metrics & can easily solve for this.
– Keep in mind here that AppLovin data is event based, not session based like Shopify. When comparing things like ATC in App dash vs Shopify analytics, you’ll have disparity bc of this.
– New attribution windows so now we have: 0D, 1D, 3D, 7D, 14D, 28D click events

🚀 Campaigns
– Where you media buy
– Not much different than V0
– My big complaint: many of the metrics like CTR by ad unit are missing. So media buyers have to derive insights in “Reporting” view, but implement decisions in the “Campaigns” view. Not ideal.

🧑‍💻 Media
– where you upload new creative assets
– you can EASILY bulk upload assets and launch creative sets quickly now thanks to this
– has a small analytics section where you can see spend, impressions & upload time by creative. why not add in more metrics here?

🛒 Events
– similar to events manager where you can track total event quantity and monitor health
– BUT.. how will Apple’s WWDC bomb drop “Browsing in Safari gets even more private with advanced fingerprinting protection extending to all browsing by default” impact AppLovin’s tracking pixel? 🤔

👕 Catalogs
– Sync products via Axon pixel for DPAs
– Create and manage catalogs & product sets

First reaction:
Big step in the right direction. Lightning quick UI and easier on the eyes. Agency dash still not functioning to toggle between accounts but will get worked out soon. More customizations given to the user to facilitate media buying & insight derivation, but far from where we need it to be in the end. Would love for a bulk publisher feature to be built to easily launch multiple creative sets (after they’re uploaded) in one swoop.
