The game market is highly dynamic.
Despite the hardware classification, we constantly see big hits on PC 🖥️ and console 🎮 influencing mobile games 📱, and vice versa.
In addition to the influence of non-endemic factors, such as those coming from social media.
This is the case with the recent trend for supermarket simulators.
Developed by Nokta Games and released as early access on February 20, “Supermarket Simulator” jumped into the top games on Steam (Valve corporation) in the first week of March, reaching quickly 10k reviews (today there are 27k).
“Supermarket Simulator” is just what the name says.
A complete supermarket management simulator, covering everything from ordinary actions such as filling shelves with products to pricing.
However, what was just another global short-term trend has become a mega regional trend. 🇧🇷👀
There’s a reason for that.
At the end of March, one of today’s biggest Brazilian influencers Casimiro or “Casimito” (LiveMode) started streaming “Supermarket Simulator” on Twitch and short videos on YouTube, revealing that he spent hours playing the game.
Other influencers quickly began streaming the game, making it a strong regional trend.
The result, “Supermarket Simulator” was the best-selling game in Brazil in the first week of April 🔝, overtaking giants such as GTA V and EA Sports FC 24.
As usual, the mobile games market has picked up on this trend from PC, launching several market simulation titles.
The highlight is “Supermarket Manager Simulator” by Polish studio Digital Melody Games. 🇵🇱
Launched on March 28, the mobile version of “Supermarket Simulator” has so far reached over 15MM downloads.
Of which 75% come from Brazil. 🤯
And with an IAP revenue of more than US$300k.
“Supermarket Manager Simulator” reached the top spot on the list of the world’s most downloaded mobile games last week. 🥇
Another highlight is the “Retail Store Simulator” by the Hungarian studio Kosin Games. 🇭🇺
Launched on March 11, “Retail” has so far reached almost 4MM downloads (65% come from Brazil).
But are these games profitable when they reach a country that isn’t Tier 1? 🤔
Most likely, yes. 🤑
According to Tenjin‘s “From Hyper to Hybrid in 2024” report, Brazil is the second country with the highest ad spend on Android (behind only the 🇺🇸) and one of the lowest CPIs.
What’s more, most of the downloads of both games were probably organic (Casimito feelings 💋).
