Which Country’s Developers Are Taking Japanese Mobile Gamers’ Money?

In the first 9 months of 2024, Japanese mobile game players spent ~$3.257 billion on games across Android and iOS platforms. But what's really fascinating is that 61% of this spending—about $1.99 billion—went to games developed by Japanese companies. Just a little note, 35.51% of the money spent by American players in the same time period goes into the pockets of American developers, you can check it out here. Data Source: Apptica Singapore (13.61%) ranked 2nd in successfully taking the most money from Japanese players' pockets, followed by China (8,79%) in 3rd, Hong Kong (5,17%) in 4th, the USA (4,81%) in 5th, Turkey (4,02%) in 6th, Finland (1,14%) in 7th, South Korea (1,00%) in 8th, and Ireland (0,34%) in 9th. Hey, FAM! What’s up? 🥃 Drink talk Not being a d1ck to people pays dividends. Remember to be friendly and offer help as much as you can (if you can). It doesn’t cost too much and can improve other people’s life. Also, you never know who you walk into in a different job or engagement. I always remember all the people who didn’t pay my invoice (for whatever reasons), and they should. We had already met multiple times, and oh boy, the look on their faces when I was the decision maker and suddenly on the other side of the barricade. Fun times… 🦩Tip of the week Creatives -> icon –> screenshots = one seamless experience. Office Cat by Treeplla: $130K a Day

Office Cat by treeplla Inc. already scaled to $130K a day 🤑 overall revenue just in 4 months. In this special episode, we got Seok Kang, CPO at Treeplla to live review the game with us. The company has a lot of cat-themed games such as Cat Snack Bar, Lumbercat, Cat Mart in their portfolio so this is not a "Catccident" 😹.Even though Office Cat can be considered an idle game, it has a unique loop compared to the usual idler. There is no reset mechanic, as your office just moves to bigger buildings 🏢 with all the progression. This was an iteration on one of the biggest churn points of the genre, which is the lost progress during reset. You essentially manage a co-working space, where companies grow and pay rent (names such as KitTok, and Spawtify 😹). You […]

Hey, FAM! What’s up? 🥃 Drink talk There are a lot of rumors coming from Gamescom. blablablabla.. Key headline: Survive to 25! Anyway, there has been much talk about CTV. I have been planning to try CTV for a looooooong time. Many different UA channels have this placement. Now, even Unity has come up with something interesting! Let’s see! 🦩Tip of the week How long should we be in the soft launch? There is no correct answer to this. The goal of the soft launch is not to be in a “tweaking mode” forever and, step by step, improve the game. Not every time it’s possible. How long your game can stay in the soft launch is influenced by multiple variables: CPI vs LTV or Dx ROAS goal hit Retention KPIs Monetisation KPIs Money in the bank account Kill the game, save your company […]
