Is cross-platform gaming a reality or a myth?

I get that question often, and it seems to me the answer is similar to Roy Amara’s famous expression: ‘We tend to overestimate the effect of a technology in the short run and underestimate the effect in the long run.’

On one hand, when you look at the data in the short term, you can see very dramatic changes (even though expectations are sometimes very high). On the other hand, when you look at a wider set of data (below is data based on Internet users in different countries based on GWI, showing the percentage of users who use at least four devices in gaming), the picture gets more interesting…
